Renaud Capuçon, the celebrated French violinist, recently released his new album “Les Choses de la Vie – Cinema II.” Continuing on the theme of his popular 2018 album, Cinéma, which featured music from popular films. For this album, Capuçon features 19 works by French film composers or for iconic French movies. Notable pieces in this album are Michel Legrand’s “The Windmills of Your Mind” from the soundtrack of the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, Joseph Kosma’s “Les Feuilles mortes” from the 1946 classic, Les Portes de la nuit (Gates of the Night), as well as themes from The Shape of Water (2017) by Alexandre Desplat, Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Maurice Jarre, and Les Choses de la Vie (1970) by Philippe Sarde, which serves as the inspiration behind the album’s name. For this release, Capuçon worked with Warner Classics, conductor Duncan Ward, and the orchestra “Les Siècles”.
